Classes Offered for Fall/Spring Semester 2010-2011
Children's Creative Dance & Pre ballet
This preschool dance class is offered for age 3 and 4 years old. The class will introduce children to movement, music and rhythm, as well as body discipline and awareness. The class is designed to develop appropriate skills for this particular age group. Emphasis is placed on fun and the development of positive self-esteem as the child enters one of his or her earliest classroom situations.
Tap Dancing
Tap is offered for ages 6 through adult with levels for the beginner through advanced dancer. The style is rhythm tap with emphasis on technique and style. Rhythm tap is like beating a drum with your feet while keeping on your toes and heels. It's a great workout.
The Dance Studio offers Jazz for ages 5 through adult. Through your years of Jazz you will study all the styles Jazz dance has to offer. We offer (8) levels of Jazz.
Jazz 1 is our basic beginning level class with an introduction to basic jazz movement and technique. Our dance objective for beginners is to increase physical and rhythmic awareness, to perform simple choreography, to maintain interest, and to provide performance experience.
Jazz 2 places emphasis on more complex combinations and technique.
Jazz 2+, 3, 3+ is an intermediate level featuring intermediate to advanced combinations and technique, this level requires twice-weekly attendance.
Jazz 3+, 4 features advanced Jazz combinations and technique with attention paid to correctness of form and technique, this level requires twice-weekly attendance.
Jazz 4+, 5, and Jazz 5+ offers advanced and fast paced combinations for the serious and experienced dancer, twice-weekly attendance is required.
Tap & Jazz II Combination Class
We will be offering a tap and jazz combination class this Fall for Children age 6-9. The class will meet once a week for (one hour, 45 minutes). If the day and time of a jazz II combination class fits your schedule but the dancer only wants to take Jazz that can be arranged.
Lyrical Dance
Lyrical will be offered this fall for ages 6 through adult. The class will meet once a week for (one hour). All Lyrical dancers age 8 and up must be registered in another class in addition to their Lyrical class. (This does not include the Beginner Ballet/Lyrical age 6-8) Lyrical dance is a blend of ballet, modern, and jazz dance with emphasis on the lyrics and emotions of the music.
Six week courses are designed for the student who finds it difficult to maintain a regular schedule throughout the (9) month Fall/Spring semester. The classes are fast paced and fun the only difference is you are not working towards the annual dance concerts. The six week courses usually begin in January. If needed, the day & time set aside for a six week course will be changed to a regular monthly class that is also a performance class.
